Shaquavia Straughn is a dedicated public health professional committed to advancing education, equity, and community empowerment. A 2022 graduate of Spelman College, she earned her degree in Psychology and Education as an Ethel Waddell Githii Honors Program Scholar and Spelman Social Justice Fellow. At Spelman, Shaquavia led multiple social justice organizations and completed an honors thesis on mental health application usage among Black female college students during the COVID-19 pandemic. She currently works as an Education Analyst at RTI International, where she evaluates STEM education

programs designed for underserved communities. Concurrently, she received a master’s degree in Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health in 2024. Shaquavia is also the Founder of The Magnolia Project MS, a nonprofit organization in southeast Mississippi that fosters sisterhood, positive change, and mutual aid for Black women and girls. This endeavor is an extension of her role as an advocate for minority women's health as a Coordinator with 601 For Period Equity. In her role as a Project Associate at PDE Consulting, she continues to apply her expertise in research, program evaluation, and community-centered initiatives to drive meaningful change."
